Day 2: Veliko Tarnovo / Kazanlak (Thracian Tomb) / Plovdiv
Hot and cold buffet breakfast at hotel. Leave Veliko in the morning driving thru the Bulgarian countryside to Plovdiv passing the picturesque Rose Valley, we'll make a stop in the town of Kazanlak at the world famous Thracian Tomb you'll get an up-close view of Hellenistic frescoes dating back to the 3th century BC. Continue thur the picturesque Valley of Roses where the world famous Bulgarian rose oil is produced. Afternoon arrival to Plovdiv - Bulgaria's oldest town. Enjoy a walking tour of the old center with the Roman Amphitheatre before checking into your hotel. Dinner on your own.

Day 3: Plovdiv / Rila Monastery / Sofia
Hot and cold buffet breakfast at hotel. Enjoy a scenic ride on the way to Bulgaria's most famous monastery: Rila, inscribed on the World Heritage. This religious settlement was founded as early as the 10th century by St. Ivan Rilsky and it is today one of the most visited tourist attractions of the Balkans. It always was a center of Bulgarian culture. In the afternoon arrive to Sofia, the capital of the country. The panoramic city tour will take you to Alexander Nevski Cathedral as well as to all places of interest. Optional: Traditional Bulgarian Folklore Dinner.

2010 THE BLACK SEA & THE DANUBE DELTA EXTENSION (PRE OR POST TOUR)
Day 1: Bucharest / Constanta / Tulcea (Danube Delta) NOT ON A MONDAY
Early morning departure to Constanta, the largest sea port on the Black Sea. A city of 330,000 people and the Black Sea's largest port, Constanta was established in the 4th century BC as a Greek colony. The drive from Bucharest will take approximately three hours, crossing the Danube into the region of Dobrogea and driving along the (in)famous Danube-Black Sea Canal. The city tour of Constanta will take you to the Secession Casino and the Genoese Lighthouse. Later tour the Archeology Section featuring the fabulous Glykon Serpent and the wonderfully restored the Roman Mosaic - one of the largest in this part of Europe. In the afternoon drive to Mamaia - Romania's largest sea resort, established by King Charles of Romania in the second half of the 19th century and then continue north to the town of Tulcea located right at the entrance to the Danube Delta. Hotel check in. Dinner on your own.
